Don't miss our January 2009 Seminars in
- Manhattan Beach - January 13, 2009
- Sacramento - January 21, 2009
- Costa Mesa - January 22, 2009
Here are the topics that will be covered in our January 2009 Seminars:
BANKRUPTCY UPDATE: The courts are starting to interpret the new bankruptcy laws. As expected, the judges have differing views of what the law requires Credit Unions to do. Our Seminar will highlight the major areas of concern.
NCUA REGULATIONS: Predatory Lending; Record Preservation Program; Statement on Subprime Mortgage Lending; Regulation E (Small-Dollar Exception); Lender Risk Rating System; General Lending Maturity Limit; Repurchase Transactions; Conversion to Mutual Savings Banks.
CALIFORNIA STATUTES: In the State of California, using common sense is not enough to insure compliance with the hundreds of laws that were passed this year. We review the most relevant new laws in California and explain their significance to your Credit Union.
REAL ESTATE FORECLOSURES: Foreclosures have doubled and we are all a bit rusty on the basics in protecting the Credit Union. We will review the essential points and discuss new legislation.
PAYDAY LENDING: Credit Unions have enjoyed the income, but, as expected, may face some consequences from providing this convenience for our members.
COLLECTION CASES: Delinquencies are accelerating, overwhelming collection departments. We offer some high-tech approaches to managing increased volume of delinquencies, without violating consumer protection laws.
CREDIT UNION OPERATIONS: Each department at your Credit Union should be able to interact with others. By understanding at least some of the problems experienced by other departments, your Credit Union personnel can act as a team. We will point out how to spot issues in your department that should be shared with other departments.
LENDER LIABILITY: As we see every single year, financial institutions lose multimillion dollar cases as they ignore the laws because they do not understand the magnitude of the risk. Find out why ignoring liability issues can hurt your Credit Union's bottom line.
The fee to register for our Seminar is $245.00 per registrant (or $225.00 per registrant if paid prior to October 31, 2008). The registration fee includes all materials, continental breakfast, lunch, and afternoon break. To register for our 2009 Seminar, please contact our office at
